Heavy Lift Craftsmanship in the Port of Antwerp

Jumbo Shipping performed a series of heavy lifts in the Port of Antwerp, Belgium for the Shell Motiva Project. Jumbo Shipping was tasked with lifting a vacuum tower, with a total weight of 1.200 ton, a length of 50 meters and 17 meters (164 x 56 feet) in diameter, including the mounted self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) from a barge to Jumbo’s Heavy Lift Crane Vessel Fairplayer. The Fairplayer has 1.800 ton cranes capable of lifting the giant load from a barge, moored between Fairplayer and the quayside to its own deck. Two Green Pin® Sling Shackles BN were attached to the vacuum tower and several Green Pin® Heavy Duty Bow Shackles BN were used to lift the other objects. Lifting operations took about 1.5 hours and resulted in the vacuum tower being positioned on the Fairplayer. The Fairplayer then set course to Port Arthur, Texas where the cargo was unloaded.
